Road Safety Audits for Local Agencies and Tribes – Executive Track (FHWA)

This is a course developed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The entire class should take approximately 3 hours to complete. A road safety audit (RSA) is a proactive, formal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection. It qualitatively estimates and reports on potential road safety issues and identifies improvements. The executive track of this course provides a comprehensive understanding of RSAs, their purpose, and their distinction from traditional safety reviews. This course walks through the eight-step RSA process and project management, policy, and funding related to RSAs. This course is intended for a variety of positions within local agencies and tribal governments that may be involved in the organization or management of a road safety audit. It is specifically geared toward supervisor-level positions or higher. Training includes: 1. Introduction to Road Safety Audits 2. Road Safety Issues 3. RSA Process 4. Project Management, Policy, and Funding This course is hosted on an outside platform. If you have issues accessing the class, please contact FHWA. After completing the course, you will receive a certificate from FHWA. You will need to submit that certificate to us using the form contained within this class for credit. The course can be counted for Road Scholar I credit.
